The Exhibition “Doisneau et la musique” (Doisneau and Music) at “Cité de la Musique - Philharmonie Paris” was absolutely superb, showing an exquisite array of images from the humanist French photographer Robert Doisneau mainly in relation to musical topics. The whole span of his career was represented: his very beginnings with his Paris street photography, photographs from his relationships with writers like Jacques Prevert, and musicians from the worlds of classical, jazz, and popular music. I walked more than once through the different showrooms and finally sat down to rest for some time. From my chair it was impressive to observe the many visitors, passing through the exhibition corridors and amazing to see their reaction contemplating the different photographic masterpieces: there was everything from superficial attention and detailed analysis, everything to being amused to respectfully observing close up, being taken away or commenting with friends, most of the time being overall impressed and enthusiastic.
