Vatican

Moving around Rome was quite a challenging experience this summer. Not only was the sun unforgiving but the center was full of tourists who under the command of their respective tour guides marched in groups through the city like legions of imperial soldiers. I found it pleasant, therefore, not to miss any of the smaller churches one can find in the Italian capital. They are intimate, beautiful and provide an occasion for some quiet moments. When we finally visited the Vatican I was at first shocked by the sheer size of St. Peter's Basilica interior. However, after a while, I surrendered myself to the church which was overwhelming in its own right.
